The Protected Areas

The protected areas play a unique role in preserving the exceptional natural and cultural heritage of the Alps and managing tourist flows. It is an important role both in terms of conservation strategies (nature, expertise, heritage, culture) and the definition and management of certain activities that are essential to modern-day mountain life (tourism, mountain farming, alpine grazing, forestry, eco-building, etc.).

It is because all of the protected areas in the Alps share a geographical location and common values that, for many years, they have been working with ALPARC to coordinate their efforts and share their experience and knowledge.
