Localisation, Venue and Travel
We will meet, eat and sleep in the village of Cogne which is not far away from Aosta. We would recommend to come by car, but Cogne is also accessible by public transport (more information below)
The sports facilities (nordic skiing and slalom) are easily accessible within walking distance from the center of Cogne. For the ski touring ascent, the start is at the bottom station of the Mont Zeuc gondola and the finish is at the top station of the Grand Crot chairlift (700 m D+). The slalom is indicated on the map and it is accessible by the Sylvenoire chairlift. For cross-country skiing, the location is Prati di San Orso right next to the centre of Cogne with an estimated 6 km distance. For the shooting range we are still considering whether it is better to do it indoors (gym = it. palestra) or outdoors with a location yet to be identified.
Thursday evening opening ceremony in the centre of Cogne and torchlight procession to the gym (5 minutes' walk), followed by Alpine buffet.
In short: The conference venue and the competition venues are in short walking distance.
The village of Cogne
Cogne is one of the main municipalities in Valle d'Aosta, and the largest. It is located in the upper part of the valley of the same name, at the foot of the Gran Paradiso massif that gives its name to the National Park of the same name. The main town (chief town Veulla) is located in the centre of the municipal territory. Four side valleys branch off from here, including Valnontey, where the Gran Paradiso Massif rises.
How to arrive and get around Cogne Valley
By Car:
Exit the A5 motorway at the toll booth "Aosta Ovest", by the town of Aymavilles, and follow the directions for Cogne (approximately 21km of national road).

The closest railway station is in Aosta. You can catch the bus to Cogne opposite the station, stopping at various points in the area.
By Air
The closest airport is the "Turin - Caselle" airport. From there you can continue your journey by coach; the same applies for the airports of Milan and Geneva.
