ALPARC workshop: “Mountain tourism in transition: developing and marketing sustainable nature tourism products in Alpine parks”

Demand for nature-based activities is growing in the Alps and their protected natural areas. Especially in the latter it is crucial to guarantee sustainability of these activities that contribute to local economic development in respect of the natural environment. This ALPARC workshop focuses on the development of new tourist products, also in cross-border regions, starting from the spirit and the values of natural parks. How can practitioners ensure the respect of these values in the development of nature-based tourism products and how can these be marketed? Which are lighthouse products and services? The workshop targets protected area managers and staff, tourism professionals, tourism organisations and other stakeholders interested in the topic.

  • Afternoon (14-18h): introduction to the workshop and field meetings with professionals
Tuesday, October 9 - workshop with presentations and discussions
  • Morning: nature-based product development and sustainability
  • Afternoon: marketing of the products.
