Alpine Ecological Network

Bringing a contribution to the conservation, restoration or rebuilding of ecological connectivity in the alpine space – that is one of the main objectives of ALPARC.

In order to achieve this aim ALPARC is involved in different large alpine projects and initiatives closely related to one another. Indeed, the long term protection of biodiversity and the natural heritage of the mountain range requires a global approach taking into account aspects of ecological connectivity (spatial connection elements). The creation of ecological networks in the Alps, an aim also included in the Alpine Convention as well as in various national and international legislations, offers the possibility to develop the actual nature protection policies towards more dynamic approaches going further than the existing protected areas.
