The National Park Gran Paradiso in Italy and the Swiss National Park have launched a common research project, which should provide new insights into the ecology and behaviour of ibex in the Alps.

Combining many years of experience with this species, which has narrowly escaped extinction, these two parks have signed an agreement providing for coordination of scientific work on the ibex, the exchange of data and expertise. Exchanges of scientists and rangers will contribute to the international transfer of knowledge. This project will also supply other European projects with new knowledge and contribute to the protection of the species.
