The Ecrins National Park will be hosting the third Rencontres de l'image de montagne festival in Bourg d'Oisans, France, on 17 and 18 September 2010. The festival includes a programme of free public screenings plus a range of workshops looking at nature photography techniques (digiscoping, macro insect and flower photography, landscapes). Each workshop will be run by a park warden who is also a photographer.
The event is unique because of its chosen medium: this is no screening of films or slide shows, but instead is dedicated to multimedia presentations. What does that involve, I hear you ask. It means projecting stills as part of an animated slide show with sound: a completely new kind of artistic and audiovisual experience.
If you are not familiar with this medium, why not check out the sample online at the Ecrins National Park's website at this link
A time to meet togetherNo competition, no prizes. The festival is designed purely as an occasion for photography enthusiasts who share a love of the mountains to talk and make merry. All the film-makers come to share their vision of both the grandeur and the intimate secrets of the mountains. Alongside the presentations, the festival focuses on dialogue with and between the creators. Outings to explore the local area provide further opportunities for socialising. The images have to combine beauty and content and so have to be produced in harmony with the mountains and their wild and human inhabitants. This artistic perspective also ensures that the multimedia shows and the discussions are of the highest quality. Why not get involved? The list of the works to be screened during the festival will be published in June. If your protected area has a multimedia presentation that you would like to show at the festival, you can either contact the Ecrins National Park direct or send it to ALPARC , who will pass it on to the right person. A number of Alpine protected areas, including the Ecrins National Park, have also begun working on an ALPARC multimedia project about the Alpine protected areas . We would be interested in hearing about any multimedia products you could contribute to this project: please get in touch. |
