2010, Year of the biodiversity: to act against the fragmentation of the habitats "The Wall " was built in Lyon, on the Place St Jean from 9:00 to 18:00 on November 19. The pedestrians ran up against a wall of 13 meters high and 3 meters long. The same event had already taken place in five other big cities of various countries of the alpine arc: Munich, Zurich, Vienna, Ljubljana and Milan. “The Ecological initiative Continuum " thus intends to attract the attention on the urbanization and the fragmentation of the landscape which constitute, in particular in the alpine arc, a major obstacle for the mobility of fauna and flora. Indeed the species need to move to nourish, reproduce, rest or conquer new spaces of life. The fragmentation of the habitats can lead to the extinction of some of them. This event attracted the curiosity of many town people. For more information http://www.alpine-ecological-network.org/ |
