The new International Steering Committee (ISC) was elected at the occasion of the ALPARC General Assembly held on October the 21st in Zernez in the Swiss National Park. Michael Vogel, director of Berchtesgaden National Park/D was re-elected at the ISC presidency for 2 more years. He is assisted in his role by 2 vice-presidents: Philippe Traub, director of Vanoise National Park/F, who is already holding this function since 2 years, and Bruno Stephan Walder, Head of the Natural Heritage Section at the Federal Office for the Environnement, in Switzerland. The ISC consists of 17 members representing protected areas of the 8 alpine countries. It establishes the main directions which define the international work according to the priorities and requests of the protected areas. It also works out every 2 years the working programme of ALPARC, which is then validated by the Permanent Committee of the Alpine Convention. |
