The Large carnivores working group met on 13 March 2009 at Mittersill in the Hohe Tauern National Park in Austria. The meeting brought together wildlife officers from various protected areas in the Alps and Carpathian mountains.

The aims of the workshop were:

  • to discuss different types of activities currently underway in the protected areas (management, monitoring, research and communication)
  • to set out the working group's activities for 2009-10 and discuss the potential for a joint project involving the protected areas.

The conclusions of the meeting can be obtained from the Adamello Brenta Natural Park /I, which chairs the working group.

The meeting was followed by a discussion of wardens' experiences and activities in this field, as part of the 14th Danilo Re Meet.
