The Swiss network of parks and ALPARC (Alpine Network of Protected Areas) are organizing a workshop workshop from 16th till 18th of March 2011 in Marbach/Escholzmatt (Switzerland) on the subject of:

"Indicators of management effectiveness“

An increasing number of public institutions (ministries, territorial collectives, …) demand from the managements of protected areas a real evaluation of their management measures in terms of utility and effectiveness. The Network of Alpine Protected Areas (ALPARC) coordinated by the Task Force Protected Areas of the permanent Secretariat of the Alpine Convention initiated already in 2006, with an impulse from the alpine protected areas, a work of reflexion on this subject. Since then, thanks to several workshops organised on this topic as well as the work done by the members of the network, a first basis for the elaboration of a common tool has been realised.

This tool, which has been developed referring to the needs expressed by managers of protected areas, will permit a better control of the management actions as well as to give proof of the quality of management actions for the institutional partners.

The aims of this meeting are:
- to build a catalogue of indicators on management effectiveness for protected areas

- to train managers in using this catalogue for their protected area

Remember to register before the 22nd of February 2011!
