The new French presidency will carry on the activities of the Platform

Last July, after two years of German presidency, the chair of the Platform “Ecological network” was passed to France. The new chairwoman is Marie-Odile Guth from the French Ministry of Environment.

In the past, the Platform has supported and actively participated in the development of the methodological and technical basis for the implementation of ecological networks in the Alps. The new presidency will now focus on the concrete realisation of ecological network projects in the alpine pilot regions as well as on public communication. The year 2010, international year of biodiversity, will offer various opportunities to present the alpine initiatives aiming at improving the ecological connectivity to an international public and to underline their contribution to the conservation of biodiversity and to climate protection.

The Platform will continue its close collaboration with the different alpine projects as the Continuum Project and ECONNECT.
