Forty-two teams from the Alpine protected areas and two from the Carpathians (Romania and Serbia) gathered in the Slovenian town of Bled from 20-23 January, following an invitation of the Triglav national park and ALPARC, to compete in a number of sporting disciplines (shooting, cross-country skiing, giant slalom and ski mountaineering). |

"The draft was prepared at the Ministry of the environment in February 2008. By our opinion the draft does not contain the necessary elements to protect the area of Triglav according to standards of IUCN category II - so it the protected area cannot be declared national park by definition." IUCN

Logarska dolina is a valley on the north-eastern side of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. It is a typical alpine glacial valley offering great views and sheltering the waterfall Rinka at its end, one of the highest waterfalls in Slovenia. To protect the nature of Logarska dolina, the former municipality Mozirje proclaimed Logarska dolina landscape park in 1987 together with a neighbouring valley Robanov kot. |

The thematic seminar is an integral part of the Danilo Re Meet programme, alongside the sporting event and social gathering. This year's theme was "The work of the rangers — concrete activities for the implementation of the Alpine Convention". Rangers from various different parks gave presentations on the wealth of practical activities that their work entails. |
