Ecological buildings and innovations

The population of the Alps possesses a very large heritage of buildings, whether traditional or innovative habitats. Know-how has developed around the mastery of the constraints characteristic of the Alps (climate, slope, aspect, etc.) and energy efficient buildings.

Successfully linking the conservation of this ancestral cultural wealth and the necessary opening onto new elements of architectural design which contribute to the sustainable development of the Alpine area constitutes one of the challenges which the (inhabited) protected areas are endeavouring to meet, at their level.
