"Phénoclim & Phénopiaf"

Since 2004, the Alpine Ecosystems Research Centre CREA , has launched two programmes to observe the impact of climate change in the French Alps:

  • the Phenoclim programme, which looks at plant life
  • the Phenopiaf programme on the return of migratory birds

These interactive programmes are open to any and all Alpine residents who are interested in the project - whether professionals or amateurs. Data is entered online using the CREA website. The website also contains a full list of sightings and an easy-to-read document exploring the issues.

In 2007, a framework partnership agreement was concluded by the Alpine Mountain Environment Education Network (REEMA), the Alpine Ecosystems Research Centre and the Alpine Network of Protected Areas (ALPARC) to facilitate the development of participation in Phenoclim and Phenopiaf in protected areas in the French Alps.
