The Danilo Re Meet, which brings together large numbers of Alpine protected area staff, is now into its 15th year. The competition was won by the Slovenian team from the Triglav National Park, who will also be hosting next year's Meet. Second place went to the host park, the Swiss National Park, with the Austrian Hohe Tauern National Park coming third. The full results can be seen here .As always, the Meet also included a thematic seminar. The subject for 2010 was avalanches. Experts from the Davos-based Swiss Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research gave presentations on their working methods and avalanche-prevention techniques. The seminar provided invaluable training for all those who are exposed to this kind of hazard on a daily basis. |
