The Ecrins National Park will be hosting the third Rencontres de l'image de montagne festival in Bourg d'Oisans, France, on 17 and 18 September 2010. The festival includes a programme of free public screenings plus a range of workshops looking at nature photography techniques. The event is unique because of its chosen medium: this is no screening of films or slide shows, but instead is dedicated to multimedia presentations...

The 28th August 2009 was a red-letter day for the Swiss parks network. The Federal Office for the Environment granted 8 out of 9 requests for the creation of parks and acknowledged two new parks as “Park of national importance”. Hence, the landscape of Swiss parks continuously takes on better forms.

The Ecological Continuum Initiative has published a new series of fact sheets for local stakeholders in German, French and Italian language that are now available online.

Logarska dolina is a valley on the north-eastern side of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. It is a typical alpine glacial valley offering great views and sheltering the waterfall Rinka at its end, one of the highest waterfalls in Slovenia. To protect the nature of Logarska dolina, the former municipality Mozirje proclaimed Logarska dolina landscape park in 1987 together with a neighbouring valley Robanov kot.

At the 33rd meeting of the World Heritage Committee held in Seville at the end of June 2009, the Committee voted to approve the application from the Dolomites.

A new ViViAlp station has been installed in the Gran Paradiso National Park in Italy. The inauguration of this new equipment took place in the visitors’ centre of Cogne on Monday, 10th August 2009.
