The ecological Network of Alps at the Conference of Biological Diversity

More than 5,000 participants are expected in Bonn/D at the end of May for the 9th Conference of the Contracting Parities to the Convention on Biological Diversity.
One of the side events will focus on ecological networks in the Alpine region. Various initiatives are underway in the Alps and in the Carpathians to set up a network of biologically significant regions as a contribution to preserving biological diversity. To underline the importance of these initiatives, representatives of the Alpine Convention , the Carpathian Convention and the Convention on Biological Diversity will sign a co-operation agreement as part of the side event. The side event is being held from 13:15 to 14:45 at the Federal Ministry for the Environment in Bonn on 29 May 2008.
