The rate of loss of Biodiversity and degradation of the natural environment in Europe is increasing every day. Land use systems play a major role in this issue. In order to save biodiversity, we need to develop comprehensive conservation tools that work in modern intensive land use systems. The aim of this conference is to identify and discuss appropriate strategies to save biodiversity in the context of increasingly intensive land use systems. Do we have the chance to develop a sustainable balance between the ever growing exploitation by land and a long term protection of Biodiversity in Europe?
