The Sexten Dolomites Nature Park in Toblach, Sexten and Innichen, in the Puster Valley, South Tyrol has a new name: from now on it will be known as the Tre Cime Nature Park (Drei Zinnen in German, the second official language).

Henceforth, the nature park will bear the name of the three iconic peaks whose world-famous north faces are the most impressive natural feature in the protected area. The Tre Cime are the most renowned mountains both in the South Tyrol Dolomites and the newly-created UNESCO world heritage site in the Dolomites.

We had long felt that the old designation was rather contrived so the new name – Tre Cime Nature Park – is a good, practical alternative.
